There are three craftsmen involved in building each Brahma Board. The
three of them share a common love for the game and have spent countless
hours discussing board features with other backgammon players.
Each Brahma Board takes thirty five to forty hours to build!
Tim is the woodworker of the group. He designed the two styles of Brahma
Boards. The playing surface is slightly larger than most boards. That
makes pip counting easier and gives the player on the bear-off side more
room for rolling dice during the bear-off phase of the game.
Randy is the leather craftsman who draws and dyes the playing surface.
The process is time consuming and takes a steady hand. He works and
conditions the leather to give it an aged appearance.
The interior surface of each board is cut from a single piece of
leather. That includes the area for the checkers and cubes. The grain
pattern flows from one side to the other.
When the finished leather is added to the board you have one of the most
beautiful backgammon playing surfaces you will ever see and the best
playing surface you will ever use.
Not
only is this board beautiful - it is tough! The leather playing surface
won't wear out like felt or cork, and can be renewed instead of being
replaced.
The hardwood frame is strong and you have a choice between cherry,
lyptus, maple, padauk, and walnut. The cherry boards are stained dark
and the lyptus, maple, padauk and walnut boards are kept natural.
The exterior surface of the board is cut from one piece of leather.
Clyde uses a process that gives the leather depth and protects it. This
is real leather with small scars that give the board character! We
made one board with the brand on the exterior and the backgammon player
who bought it loved it!
These boards deserve to be called Brahma Boards! And, because
leather and wood have different grain patterns no two boards will ever
be the same. Each board is a work of art and is unique!
The boards come with a set of matching custom wood and leather dice
cups, four 9/16th precision dice, one wood doubling cube and a set of
checkers.
You can add a small brass plate engraved with your name or other
information to personalize it.
